Behind the Lens
Who is Heather Turner?
If you are visiting my site its more than likely because you have seen my work and are curious as to who I am, my photographic style, and why you should hire me. So, who is Heather Turner? I grew up with a photographer grandfather who taught me how to shoot using a film camera. He graciously purchased my first Minolta camera and opened my eyes to the world of photography. If he were alive today he would be astounded by the world of digital photography.
I graduated from Virginia Tech in 2003 with a degree in Clothing & Textiles. I currently live in Charleston, SC and spend my time traveling and shooting in the Roanoke Valley area as well as parts of Richmond, VA. I love to travel. I’ve lived all over the world.
Just a few arbitrary things about me: I don't like milk. Or bread. I know, I'm weird. I do like sweets. Especially cupcakes. My favorite flower is hydrangea. I love to decorate and re-decorate. I'm obsessed with organizing. Best of all-I love my job.
All of my life experiences and travels have influenced my photographic style over the years. Don’t get me wrong, I love posed photography, however, I love to capture the moments that are often forgotten. Simple moments like sisters telling each other a secret, a father and son holding hands, a mother gazing into her child’s eyes; moments that are often taken for granted. Often referred to as Lifestyle photography. I love photographing families and children. I love being able to create a representation of who a family is at that one moment in time, immortalized forever in the "perfect family photo."
If you want to see your life in the "details" hire me for your photographic needs. Let me be a "fly on the wall" during your session, let me disappear in the background and capture those details of all the teeny tiny things we often. forget!
